Spartanburg Community Band is an all-volunteer concert band whose members are mostly amateur musicians from Spartanburg, SC and surrounding areas. The Community Band was founded in 1996 to serve two purposes:
1) to provide an opportunity for area musicians to continue performing after graduating from school
2) to provide free live music performances to the community
The Spartanburg Community Band performs regularly year round for various public events in and around Spartanburg, SC. Our venues include Spartanburg’s Red, White and Boom July 4th celebration and Dickens of a Christmas. Our Ice Cream Sunday Concert Series, formerly held on the USC-Upstate campus but moving to Converse College, is an especially popular family oriented concert. In addition, the band provides formal Spring, Fall and Christmas concerts, typically at the Chapman Cultural Center. Check out our Concert Schedule.

The Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble, an affiliate of the Community Band, is conducted by Dr. Thomas J. Wright. The Jazz Ensemble rehearses Sunday evenings at USC-Upstate.
